Vinyl or fiber cement?
Vinyl is the value choice: low cost, no painting, dozens of colors, and modern thicker panels stand up to hail far better than the thin siding of the 1990s. Fiber cement costs more up front, but it does not crack in hail, does not melt or warp, holds paint for fifteen years and looks like real wood.
